Authorities arrested a 26-year-old San Jose man Thursday who was allegedly involved in two armed robberies last week, one during which he is suspected of hitting two women with a metal object, the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department said Friday. Detectives from Los Gatos-Monte Sereno and Santa Clara Police departments arrested Samuel Edward Michael shortly before noon Thursday at the Santa Clara County probation department on North First Street in San Jose, police said. On March 19, Los Gatos-Monte Sereno police officers responded at about 10 p.m. to a report of an armed robbery at the corner of East Main Street and Pleasant Street. Michael is suspected of hitting two women in their 40s in the head with a metal object as they were walking on East Main Street in Los Gatos, police said. He also allegedly took a purse from one of the victims. The women were taken to a hospital with head injuries. Michael is suspected in another robbery involving a female victim that occurred that same day at 200 Saratoga Avenue in Santa Clara, police said. Officers have located additional stolen property at his apartment, police said. Michael was booked on seven felony charges and two misdemeanors, including two counts of armed robbery, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of unauthorized use of an access card, one count of vehicle
theft, one count of burglary, one count of possession of stolen property and a probation hold. He is expected to be arraigned Monday.
