* Davon Deangelo Mays-Brewster 19-year-old identified as San Leandro fatal shooting victim

A 19-year-old Oakland man has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting in an unincorporated area east of San Leandro on Wednesday night, an Alameda County sheriff’s sergeant said.Davon Deangelo Mays-Brewster was killed in the shooting, which was reported near 163rd Avenue and East 14th Street at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, sheriff’s Sgt. J.D. Nelson said.Mays-Brewster was pronounced dead at Eden Medical Center. Witnesses told investigators that a brown van was seen leaving the scene of the shooting. A short time later, the California Highway Patrol spotted a brown van heading into San Leandro on Interstate Highway 880.They followed the van as it traveled onto Lewelling Boulevard and stopped. One or possibly two people got out and fled, Nelson said.The CHP set up a perimeter and searched for the suspects, along with San Leandro police and sheriff’s deputies. They were not found.Anyone with information about the homicide is urged to contact the
