* Alameda County Sheriff’s Deputies Searching for Suspects in Fatal Shooting

Published by on March 25, 2010

The sheriff’s office is investigating a shooting that left one person dead in an unincorporated area of Alameda County Wednesday night. Deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the area of 163rd Avenue and E. 14th Street at around 9:30 p.m., Alameda County sheriff’s spokesman J.D. Guidi said. One shooting victim was located and taken to Eden Medical Center
where he was pronounced dead. The victim is being identified by the coroner’s bureau, Guidi said. Witnesses told investigators that a brown van was seen leaving the area of the shooting. Shortly thereafter, the California Highway Patrol spotted a brown van heading into San Leandro on Interstate Highway 880 and pursued it. The van drove onto Lewelling Boulevard and stopped. One or possibly two suspects got out and fled, Guidi said. A perimeter was set up by the CHP to search for the suspects, which was joined by San Leandro police and the sheriff’s office. The suspects were not found.
