A Novato man who was arrested Saturday on suspicion of indecent exposure to a 10-year-old girl in Marinwood may be responsible for other similar crimes in Kentfield and Petaluma, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said today. Jonathan Douglas Hill, 30, was arrested around 8:15 p.m. Saturday at Lucas Valley Road and Mt. Lassen Drive, sheriff’s Sgt. Debra Barry said. Deputies were responding at 7:30 p.m. Saturday to investigate a report that a man made a sexual comment to a 10-year-old girl and exposed himself near the Dixie School in Marinwood, Barry said. The girl said the man was in an older, white SUV and sheriff’s deputies responding to the indecent exposure spotted a white 1991 GMC Jimmy leaving the area, Barry said.Deputies detained Hill and the 10-year-old Marinwood girl identified him as the suspect, Barry said. Hill was in possession of a cell phone containing child pornography images and deputies found a large amount of child pornography at his Novato residence, Barry said.Deputies also found a backpack containing duct tape, flexible restraints, a plastic tarp, protective shoe covers, latex gloves, lubricant, condoms, a shotgun and ammunition, Barry said.Hill’s GMC Jimmy had fishing stickers on the back and matches the description of a vehicle provided by two young girls who were approached by a man on their way to the Kent Middle School in Kentfield on March 9, Barry said.In that incident, a vehicle slowly followed the girls ages 10 and 11 and a man inside said “hello” and patted the passenger seat of the vehicle as if to invite them to the vehicle, Barry said. The Kentfield girls said the white male adult was 25-30 years old with a thin build and a buzz-style haircut. He was wearing a hunter’s style jacket and sunglasses, Barry said.Sheriff’s deputies found a camouflage jacket in Hill’s GMC Jimmy that matched the description of the jacket provided by the Kentfield girls, Barry said.Hill was arrested Saturday for annoying or molesting a child, indecent exposure, immoral acts in the presence of a child, using a minor to perform prohibited acts and contacting a minor with intent to commit sexual offenses in connection with the Marinwood incident, Barry said. Hill was booked into the Marin County jail under $1 million bail and is scheduled to appear in Marin County Superior Court 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.Barry said the sheriff’s office believes Hill is connected to other similar incidents in Kentfield, Marinwood and Petaluma. The FBI is investigating possible transmissions of child pornography transmissions over the Internet, Barry said.
