A man wanted in connection with a shooting at a Fairfield bar earlier this month has surrendered to authorities in Nevada, Fairfield police said today. John Davis, 51, of Fallon Nev., turned himself in to the Churchill County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday, Fairfield police Lt. Darrin Moody said. Fairfield police searched Davis’ home outside Fallon on Saturday and recovered nine handguns and the car Davis drove to Fairfield on March 8 when the shooting occurred, Moody said. Davis was booked into jail in Nevada for assault with a deadly weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm, Moody said. Fairfield police said Davis is suspected of shooting a man at Harry’s Sportsman’s Lounge in the 800 block of Texas Street after an argument around 2 a.m. on March 8. Davis allegedly got a handgun from his 1990s-model Ford F-150 extended-cab truck and shot the 29-year-old man in the upper left leg, Moody said. The victim’s injury was not life-threatening, Moody said. Police identified Davis as the suspect and released his photograph after the shooting.
