A Santa Rosa man who fled police with his two 19-month-old children in his vehicle was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and child endangerment Wednesday afternoon.Police tried to contact 33-year-old Jesus Chavez around 1 p.m. at Mill and Brown streets regarding a drug investigation, Sgt. Michael Lazzarini said. Chavez fled with the children in the back seat of the vehicle. The police pursuit was contained to Brown, Tupper, Hendley, Wheeler and Mill streets near downtown Santa Rosa before Chavez drove back to a residence in the 700 block of Mill Street where he was arrested, Lazzarini said. The children were not injured.Chavez was in possession of methamphetamine for sales and marijuana and was driving on a suspended license, Lazzarini said. He was arrested for drug possession, child endangerment, evading arrest and driving on a suspended license and booked into the Sonoma County jail, Lazzarini said.A Sonoma County judge set Chavez’s bail at $150,000 because of his alleged drug involvement and willingness to endanger his children, Lazzarini said.
