A bomb squad detonated a suspicious device found in a woman’s car in Vallejo this morning, police said. The woman found  the device, a cylinder wrapped in duct tape, at about 9:30 a.m. when she got into her parked Toyota Sienna minivan in the
1000 block of Hume Way, Vacaville police Officer Gordon Makimoto said. She had dropped her cell phone and noticed the device under her seat when she went to retrieve the phone, Makimoto said. The woman called her husband and police. A bomb squad from the Yolo County sheriff’s office was called in and used a robot to remove the device, which was about 8-9 inches long and 1 inch wide, and detonated it in the street at about 11 a.m., Makimoto said. Police are still trying to determine if the device was an explosive, Makimoto said.
