* Yuji Baba Shooting Suspect From San Francisco Found Dead

A man suspected of shooting a family member in San Francisco in February was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in Modoc County last week, police confirmed Monday.A warrant had been issued for the arrest of Yuji Baba, 67, in connection with the Feb. 5 shooting outside the front door of the Salvation Army San Francisco Korean Church at 4000 19th Ave., police said. Investigators at the time said it appeared Baba had shot a 55-year-old family member in the leg in a dispute over the family’s carpet cleaning business. Police issued a statewide alert for Baba, who was believed to be armed with a black semiautomatic handgun and was considered dangerous.According to police, the Modoc County Sheriff’s Department notified San Francisco investigators on Feb. 22 that Baba was found dead a short distance from his vehicle. Authorities in Modoc County, located at the northeast corner of the state, determined he had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
