* Man Dies in San Jose Police Custody-Cause of Death Unknown

On Friday, February 26, 2010 at approximately 6:23 PM, San Jose Police officers initiated a vehicle stop on a subject who was driving a stolen vehicle. The subject did not resist arrest nor was force used to effect the arrest.  He was taken into custody without incident. While being processed at the Santa Clara County Main Jail, he collapsed.  He was transported via ambulance to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating this incident.  The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office will conduct and examination to determine the cause of death.  The San Jose Police Department’s Internal Affairs Unit, along with the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, are monitoring the case.
