San Jose police today identified 19-year-old Chanel Munoz as the woman killed in an apparent gang-related shooting early Sunday morning. The shooting happened at about 2:40 a.m. in the 300 block of South 24th Street San Jose police spokesman Ronnie Lopez said. Munoz, of San Jose, was in a confrontation with the shooting suspect prior to the shooting, Lopez said. The shooter, who was only described as male, then fled on foot with several other people. Lopez said the victim had been with friends, who are being interviewed by homicide detectives. The shooting appears to be gang-motivated, he said. Munoz is the city’s fifth homicide victim this year.
