Police in Petaluma arrested a 65-year-old man on Thursday after he allegedly confessed to molesting a foster child formerly in his care. A therapist contacted officers on Tuesday to report that a 13-year-old ward of the court had disclosed questionable behavior by her prior foster father of five years, Earl Mallory Desomber, according to Petaluma police. The therapist also told police that members of Desomber’s family had reported sexual contact between Desomber and the victim. During a subsequent interview with the suspect on Thursday, police say Desomber confessed to multiple acts of sexual contact with the victim over the five years she was posted in his care. Desomber was arrested for engaging in three or more acts of substantial sexual contact with a child under the age of 14. He was booked into Sonoma County jail with bail set at $125,000.
