A 31-year-old Pittsburg man was shot to death early this morning in a parking lot near the Pittsburg Marina, Lt. Brian Addington said.Police received a call at about 1:20 a.m. reporting a man lying in a parking lot in the 100 block of Pelican Loop, Addington said.When officers arrived, they found the man, later identified as Andrew Green, dead from multiple gunshot wounds, Addington said.Nobody had called to report the sound of gunfire, but when officers started talking to neighbors, they found several people who said they had heard gunshots and a car speeding away. However, nobody saw the shooting, Addington said.Police have not yet been able to determine a motive for the killing and do not have any suspects.Green, a bus mechanic, had worked a swing shift Monday night and appeared to have just been getting home when he was shot. He lives on Pelican Loop near where he was killed, Addington said.Green has a criminal record from the 1990s and served a prison sentence, but had stayed out of trouble since his release in 2000. He had held a steady job for several years, Addington said.”His family said he had really turned his life around,” Addington said.Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Pittsburg Police Department’s tip line at (925) 427-7369.Green is the city’s first homicide victim this year. In 2009, there were eight homicides in Pittsburg.
