* Juan Pablo Martinez and Gerardo Montoya Arrested By Salinas Police For Allegedly Driving Stolen Car

Salinas police on Saturday arrested two suspected gang members who were in a vehicle that had been reported stolen in the city. At about 8:50 a.m. Saturday, an officer spotted a vehicle in the 1500 block of Second Avenue that matched the description of a vehicle that had been reported stolen, police said. The vehicle was stopped and Juan Pablo Martinez, 34, and Gerardo Montoya, 19, were taken into custody, according to police. While searching the vehicle, officers found a stolen handgun from Illinois, police said. Martinez and Montoya, who are Sureno gang members, were taken to Monterey County jail, according to police.
