Richmond police served a series of search warrants today and arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with a shooting at the New Gethsemane Church of God In Christ during Sunday services, Richmond police Sgt. Bisa French said. The shooting happened at about 12:30 p.m. at the church, located at 2100 Roosevelt Ave., French said. Three males in black hooded sweatshirts entered the church and shot two brothers, a 14-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man, in front of about 100 people who were attending the service. The two victims, one of whom was shot in the shoulder and the other in the leg, are expected to survive.Police have not yet released information on the motive for the shooting. The shooting has prompted Bay Area religious leaders to launch a massive outreach program to combat violence.Bishop Jerry Macklin, who is the jurisdictional bishop for the Church of God In Christ in Northern California and the minister at Glad Tidings Church in Hayward, said earlier this week that at least 5,000 people are planning to start knocking on doors in Richmond to reach out to residents, especially young people.
