Two men were arrested in Santa Cruz early Wednesday morning for fighting and public intoxication following an apparent gang-related stabbing in which two other men were injured.Police responded to a report of loud music coming from a bar in the 1000 block of Cedar Street at about 1:40 a.m. Officers arrived to find eight to 10 people involved in a fight near the intersection of Cedar and Locust streets. When the officers approached them, the group quickly scattered, police said.The officers apprehended four of the people involved in the fight nearby in the 100 block of Church Street. Three had knives and two, both men in their early 20s, had been stabbed, police said.The two men who were injured were taken to a hospital. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.Based statements from the victims and witnesses, police arrested David Lee Johnson, 23, of Watsonville, and Jose Ponce-Gonzalez, 25, of Santa Cruz County.Witnesses told police the suspects and victims had been at a bar on Cedar Street. After they left the bar, words were exchanged and the confrontation escalated into a fight. Police consider the case gang-related.
