A 27-year-old man died at a hospital early this morning after being shot in Vallejo on Sunday night, a police lieutenant said.
The shooting was reported at 6:39 p.m. in the 100 block of Mark Avenue, Vallejo police Lt. Abel Tenorio said. Mark Anthony Davis Jr., a Vallejo resident, was found injured in the street. He was taken to a hospital where he died, Tenorio said. A semi automatic handgun was recovered at the scene. Tenorio said police are investigating whether the weapon belonged to Davis or the shooter. “The call we received was gun play, subjects shooting at each other,” Tenorio said. “We don’t know who this weapon belonged to. It’s possible it belonged to the victim.” No suspects have been arrested and no motive has been established. Tenorio said officers responded to the shooting within several minutes and dismissed news reports stating that their response was delayed. “Our reports indicate that our officers arrived within four minutes of the shooting and were dispatched immediately,” Tenorio said.
