Two 15-year-old Richmond boys were charged with murder Wednesday for allegedly beating a 54-year-old parolee to death with a baseball bat in January, Richmond police Sgt. Bisa French said today. The boys, one of whom is the former stepson of the victim, were arrested Monday and have been charged as juveniles for the Jan. 18 attack that killed Manuel Lopez near the intersection of MacDonald Avenue and Third Street, French said. Lopez was on parole at the time for beating his ex-wife, the mother of one of the boy’s, which police believe was the motive for the attack.
