* Sharanda Thomas Identified As Pregnant Women Killed In Drive-By-Shooting In Richmond’s Iron Triangle Neighborhood

A woman who was killed in a drive-by shooting in Richmond’s Iron Triangle neighborhood today has been identified as 23-year-old Sharanda Thomas, a Contra Costa County deputy coroner said.Thomas, who appeared to be about 6 months pregnant, was shot along with a man shortly after noon in the 900 block of Seventh Street, Richmond police Sgt. Bisa French said.The man was taken to a local trauma center in critical condition,French said.The suspects were described as four black males in a silver or gray Chevrolet HHR.A neighbor said she was at home when she heard gunshots.”I was eating and naturally it scared me,” she said. “So I jumped to the floor because you never know where a bullet is or where it’s going to land.”The woman, who did not want to give her name because she feared for her safety, said she stayed on the floor until she heard police sirens and only then did she get up and look out the door.She said she had seen Thomas several times in passing and that she had seemed like a kind young woman. “Well, really and truly, there’s so much shooting and killing and people are so mean and hateful until you really don’t know who to trust. It is so sad,” the woman said.
