* Manuel Lopez 54-Year-Old Parolee Beat To Death In Richmond With Baseball Bat Two Teens Now Arrested

Two 15-year-old Richmond boys were arrested Monday in connection with the January beating death of a 54-year-old parolee, Richmond police Sgt. Bisa French said today.The boys allegedly used a baseball bat to beat 54-year-old Manuel Lopez to death near the intersection of MacDonald Avenue and Third Street in Richmond just before 2 p.m. Jan. 18.Lopez was the ex-stepfather of one of the boys and had been on parole at the time for beating the boy’s mother, French said. The other boy was his friend.Police investigators were planning to bring the case to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s office this afternoon, but French said
prosecutors would likely wait until Wednesday to make a decision about whether to charge the two boys.
