* Anthony Welfare Homeless Man Shot In The Back In Vallejo

Police are continuing to investigate the Monday night shooting of a 40-year-old homeless man, the latest in a string of attacks in the city.Anthony Welfare was shot in the back at about 10:30 p.m. in an alley near Tennessee Street and Sonoma Boulevard. He was walking with help from a passerby when police arrived at the scene, Lt. Abel Tenorio said. Welfare could not provide any information about the suspect and he was flown to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for treatment, Tenorio said.Police did not release Welfare’s condition today but said the bullet struck him near his left kidney.The shooting continued a string of violent incidents this month in Vallejo that included two homicides, the beating and robbery of a city employee, the shooting of an ice cream truck driver and the stabbing of three people.
