A Vallejo man who was shot to death early this morning was the father of a 17-year-old boy who was arrested Friday on suspicion of beating and robbing a city worker on Feb. 1, police Lt. Abel Tenorio said this morning. Matthew Allen Hicks, 42, was shot in the head outside a home at 435 Fairgrounds Drive at about 12:50 a.m., Tenorio said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses told police the shooter was a black male adult wearing a dark hoodie, witnesses said.Police are also looking for a man known only as Kevin, who was at the scene but left just after the shooting. He is not the shooter but is considered a person of interest, Tenorio said.”He could have been an acquaintance and we want to speak to him, ” Tenorio said.No motive has been established for the murder and police are “open to all possibilities”, Tenorio said.Hicks’ 17-year-old son and a 15-year-old boy were arrested Friday on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery and robbery for the Feb. 1 attack on the city employee in the 600 block of Broadway.The employee, a 47-year-old Suisun City man, confronted a teen who threw an object at the backhoe he was driving and was then assaulted and robbed of his wallet.Tenorio said there may be more arrests in connection with that incident. This morning’s homicide was the second Vallejo’s second since Saturday, when 36-year-old Marico Whitemon was shot multiple times in front of Parkway Liquors at 1601 Lewis Brown Road at about 12:50 a.m.Whitemon, a Vallejo resident, died at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. The suspect in the Whitemon murder is described as a black man with a light complexion, 25-30 years old, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. He was wearing dark clothing and a beanie cap.In addition to the two homicides and the beating of the city employee, ice cream truck driver Amarjit Kaur, 39, was shot in the chest during an apparent attempted robbery Wednesday afternoon. She remains at John Muir Medical Center. A 14-year-old boy has been arrested for robbery and attempted murder in connection with Kaur’s shooting. Police are looking for a second teen believed to be the shooter in that case, 15-year-old Peter Montenegro, a runway from a Hayward foster home. Police believe Montenegro is no longer in Vallejo and may have returned to the Hayward area, Tenorio said.Also, on Saturday morning, two people were found stabbed around 1 a.m. in a vehicle near Sonoma Boulevard and Lewis Brown Road. A third person with stab wounds showed up at Kaiser Permanente, Vallejo Medical Center.The stabbings also remain under investigation.
