A 19-year-old Richmond man who was fatally shot this morning after a suspect opened fire on a crowd standing in front of a nightclub near Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as Lawon Hall.
Four other people were injured in the shootings at about 1:40 a.m. near Suede nightclub, a multi-level venue located at 383 Bay St., police said. Hall was pronounced dead at the nightclub, according to the San Francisco Fire Department. One victim’s injuries are considered to be life threatening, San Francisco police Sgt. Wilfred Williams said. Another injured person is the
suspected gunman in the original shooting. The suspect was shot by a patrol special police officer and later arrested, Williams said. Patrol special police are community police officers who are chartered separately from the San Francisco Police Department but operate under its supervision. It is not known if the shootings were gang related, Williams said, but there was an altercation before shots were fired. Police are interviewing witnesses this morning and trying to find other people who may have details about what happened.
