An 18-year-old man was arrested Thursday evening in the Central Valley town of Mendota in connection with a late January shooting that left two men dead in a Santa Cruz apartment, according to police.Jaime Galdalmez-Guevara was arrested at about 6:30 p.m. at a home in Mendota after being identified as a suspect in the fatal shootings of 21-year-old Alejandro Nava-Gonzales and 18-year-old Oscar Ventura, police said.The two men were found shot in the early morning hours of Jan. 23 at an apartment located at 145 Canfield St., according to police.Police had said there were about 10 people in the apartment at the time of the shooting.Galdalmez-Guevara was identified through a series of tips by local residents, police said.The arrest was made with the assistance of the California Department of Justice, a SWAT team from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, and Mendota police.Six other people were detained at the home where Galdalmez-Guevara was arrested, but police had not released any information today about whether any of them had been arrested.Investigators are continuing to look in Mendota, a city located west of Fresno, for a second suspect who was also believed to be involved in the shootings.Anyone with additional information about the case is urged to contact the investigations section of the Santa Cruz Police Department at (831) 420-5820.
