Police served search warrants at 11 locations in North Richmond this morning, arresting eight people and seizing weapons, drugs and cash,Contra Costa County sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said.About 125 officers from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, the police departments of Richmond, San Pablo, Walnut Creek and Antioch, the California Highway Patrol and the county Animal Services Department served the warrants simultaneously beginning at about 7 a.m.The eight people taken into custody were arrested for drug offenses, weapons violations and child endangerment.Officers seized three handguns, some cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana, and approximately $8,000 cash.The warrants were the result of a several-month investigation into illegal drug activity in the small, unincorporated community.”It’s all part of our ongoing effort to address quality-of-life issues and make the community a safer place for the residents,” Lee said.The operation went smoothly and nobody was injured, Lee said.
