A female ice cream truck driver was shot and seriously wounded in Vallejo this afternoon, police said. The shooting happened at about 2:40 p.m. near the intersection of Springs Road and Castlewood Drive. Officers went to the location on reports of a woman who was slumped behind the steering wheel of an ice cream truck. Arriving officers found Amarjit Kaur, a 39-year-old Vallejo woman, suffering gunshot wounds to her chest, police said. She was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek to be treated for serious injuries. Police said a person of interest was seen fleeing the area after the shooting and have released surveillance photographs and video of the man. He is believed to have substantial information about the identity of the suspect or suspects. The person of interest is described as a Hispanic male between 16 and 22 years old, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 10 inches, 200 pounds with dark short hair. He was wearing black pea coat.According to police, surveillance footage from a nearby location shows him acting suspiciously after the shooting.
