* Derreck Stamper Arrested By Mountain View Police For A String Of Armed Robberies

Police have arrested one man in connection with a string of armed robberies in Mountain View this month,including one at a 7-Eleven store Saturday night, a spokeswoman said today.Derreck Stamper, 20, of Newark, was arrested after a police chase that spanned into East Palo Alto when a K-9 unit and his handler, a Mountain View police officer, apprehended him, police spokeswoman Liz Wylie said.Stamper is believed to have been involved in at least three of six robberies that occurred in Mountain View this month, she said.All six of the robberies have similar suspect descriptions and were committed in similar fashions, and authorities believe they are being committed by the same suspects, according to Wylie.Stamper was one of three men to rob the 7-Eleven store Saturday night, she said. The other two remain at large. Each of the six robberies in Mountain View this month have involved two or three men dressed in black and carrying small handguns, Wylie said.
