* Homeless Man Beaten and Strangled by Unknown Attackers on Monterey Street in Gilroy

Police in Gilroy are trying to identify two men who were seen strangling and beating a homeless man with a stick Friday afternoon. Officers responded to a report of an assault with a weapon in the 7800 block of Monterey Street at around 3 p.m., according to Gilroy police. Both suspects left the area before police arrived, one on foot and the other on a bicycle. The victim was taken to Santa Clara County Hospital to be treated for serious head injuries. One suspect was described as a transient known as “Israel.” He is 21 years old, around 5 feet 3 inches tall with brown hair and brown eyes. The other suspect, a man known as “David,” is 24 years old, around 5 feet tall with brown hair and brown eyes.
