* Two Men Shot in Iron Triangle Area of Richmond
Published by Junior Staff Writer on January 18, 2010
Two men were injured in a shooting tonight in Richmond’s Iron Triangle neighborhood, a police lieutenant said. Officers responded to reports of the shooting at about 8:10 p.m. in the 900 block of Triangle Court and located the victims, Lt. Mike Gormley said. A 34-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his leg and a 38-year-old man had a graze wound to one of his fingers. The victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment. A preliminary investigation indicates the two men were standing to the side of a residence when five suspects emerged from nearby railroad tracks, Gormley said. “One of these five opened fire with a rifle, striking the residence and both victims,” he said. The suspects, only described as males in hooded sweatshirts, then fled on foot. A motive for the shooting is under investigation, Gormley said.
