* Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office Providing Sandbags to Fight Floods

The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office is providing sandbags for residents in anticipation of heavy rainfall expected in the area in the coming week. Sand and about 250 bags are available at six different locations around the county, and residents must have their own shovel and transportation. The sandbags are available at the West County Detention Facility, located at 5555 Giant Highway in Richmond; Contra Costa Fire Protection District Station 4, located at 700 Hawthorne Drive in unincorporated Walnut Creek; and the Ambrose Park and Recreation Center at 3105 Willow Pass Road in unincorporated Bay Point. Sandbags are also available at the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds, located at 1201 W. 10th St. in Antioch; Byron Airport, located at 3000 Armstrong Road in unincorporated Byron; and at 2475 Waterbird Way in unincorporated Martinez, according to the sheriff’s office.
