A deputy with the Contra Costa County coroner’s office identified two 22-year-old men today who were fatally shot in Richmond on Friday night, including one who was found on the side of Interstate Highway 580. At about 8:30 p.m., officers responded to westbound Highway 580 just west of Central Avenue and found a man with gunshot wounds on the side of the road, Richmond police Sgt. Bisa French said. “It appears he was shot in a vehicle and pushed out on the side of the road,” she said. The victim, Floyd Jackson III, was pronounced dead at the scene. No suspect information was immediately available. French said that earlier Friday, shortly after 7 p.m., a man was shot and killed in the 400 block of Wilson Avenue. The coroner’s office identified that victim today as Richmond resident Derek Morris. French said there’s no immediate indication the shootings are connected. There have been four homicides in Richmond this year.
