A 16-year-old boy was killed in a shooting in unincorporated North Richmond on Thursday evening, a Contra Costa County sheriff’s spokesman said today. The boy, identified by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office as Antonio Sanders, was killed in a shooting at 6:43 p.m. at the intersection of Fourth Street and Grove Avenue, sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said.Gunshots were fired from a vehicle toward a group of people at the intersection and Sanders was struck, Lee said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.Shortly after the shooting, authorities received reports of shots fired nearby on Chesley Avenue, according to Lee. No one was injured, but investigators believe the two shootings are connected, he said.About 15 minutes later two male victims were injured in a drive-by shooting in Richmond in the area of Seventh Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, police Sgt. Bisa French said. Both victims are expected to survive.Authorities are investigating whether the Richmond shootings are related to the fatal shooting that preceded it, Lee said.
