A 23-year-old Rodeo man was arrested early this morning on suspicion of fatally shooting a Pittsburg man on state Highway 4 over the weekend. David Pagan was arrested at his girlfriend’s home in Rodeo at about 1:40 a.m. today on suspicion of killing 34-year-old Erick Jones early Saturday, police said. Police believe the shooting stemmed from a fight at Qin’s Asian
Bistro at 5007 Lone Tree Way in Antioch. When the fight ended, some of the people involved left the bar and drove off. As they headed west on Highway 4, another car pulled up alongside them and someone inside began shooting, police said Three people in the car were hit: Jones and two Pittsburg women, ages 25 and 46, police said. A short time later, at about 1:20 a.m., the victims’ car and another car pulled into the parking lot of Johnny B Sports Bar at 2500 Sycamore Drive, where Antioch police happened to be conducting a routine security check. Both cars had been shot at on Highway 4, but a fight broke out in
the parking lot between the two cars’ occupants, police said. Jones was taken to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries. Both women suffered moderate injuries and were treated at a hospital and released. The investigation led police to Pagan, whom witnesses identified as the shooter, police said. He was arrested without incident and booked into the Martinez
Detention Facility on murder and weapons charges. Anyone with more information about the crime is asked to call
Detective Castillo at (925) 779-6933 or Detective Mellone at (925) 779-6930.
