* Jose Luis Hernandez Gomez 19-Year-Old Identified As 1st San Francisco Homicide Of 2010

A young man slain in San Francisco early Sunday was identified today by the medical examiner’s office as Jose Luis Hernandez Gomez, a city resident.Gomez, 19, was found fatally shot on the sidewalk in the 500 block of Naples Street, in the city’s Excelsior District, at about 2:15 a.m., according to police.Gomez, who suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest, was pronounced dead at the scene.Police spokesman Sgt. Wilfred Williams said Gomez “had no apparent criminal record” and the motive for his killing remains unknown.Gomez was identified through his family in Mexico, Williams said. He had lived in the United States for about two years and had lived in the Excelsior District for about three months. Police are “actively investigating and pursuing all leads,” Williams said.Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
