A woman was found stabbed to death inside a car in Richmond early this morning, Richmond police Sgt. Bisa French said. Police received a call shortly after 4 a.m. from a man who said he needed help, French said. Officers responded and found a Jeep Cherokee driving slowly down Florida Avenue between South Seventh and South Eight streets. When officers stopped the Jeep, they found a woman lying on the vehicle’s floorboard, dead from an apparent stab wound, French said. The driver, a Richmond man in his 50s, had his eyes open but was unresponsive. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. The man did not appear to be injured, and police are looking into whether he might have been under the influence of drugs, French said. Police are also investigating whether he stabbed the woman. He is believed to be the person who placed the call for help, French said. Investigators know who the man is but were not releasing his name this morning. The woman had not yet been identified. The case marks the city’s second homicide this year. The first occurred early Sunday morning in the 1500 block of Burbeck Avenue, where police found 29-year-old Armando Torres-Morales shot to death on the sidewalk. As of this morning, no suspects had been identified or arrested in that case, French said.
