A 29-year-old woman was arrested in Concord early this morning after a short police chase that ended when she drove across someone’s front lawn and crashed into two parked cars, Concord police Cpl. James Carroll said. Rebekka White was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and evading police. She was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for grand theft, Carroll said. Police received a call at 12:39 a.m. reporting that a vehicle had just crashed into a couple of parked cars on Loeffler Lane and that the driver appeared to be intoxicated, Carroll said. The first officer to arrive saw the car and attempted to make contact with the driver, later identified as White, but as he got out of his car White allegedly sped away, Carroll said. She turned right onto Clayton Road and then left onto Bailey Road, police said. She then took a second left onto Concord Boulevard and a left onto Thornwood Drive, where she apparently lost control of her car. The car drove through the front yard of a home in the 1700 block of Thornwood Drive and crashed into two cars parked in the driveway, Carroll said.White was then arrested and taken to a hospital after she complained of pain. No other injuries were reported. The chase, which reached speeds of up to 80 mph, lasted about 2.5 minutes and covered about 2 miles, Carroll said.
