A man and a teenage girl were arrested Sunday evening on suspicion of trying to rob a 39-year-old Fairfield man. Joshua Brown, a transient, and a 17-year-old Concord girl were arrested for attempted armed robbery, assault and evading arrest, police said.A Fairfield man was walking near an apartment complex at 1601 Travion Court at about 6:45 p.m. when the suspects approached him, police said. Brown was holding a knife and demanded money from the victim, police said. When the victim said he didn’t have any money, Brown allegedly slashed at him and cut his hands, police said.The suspects then ran north on Union Avenue, and the victim followed. He called Fairfield police, who broadcast a description of the pair.They were spotted on Clay Street near Acacia Street and were taken into custody in the backyard of a nearby home after a short foot chase, police said. They were arrested on charges of attempted armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and resisting arrest.
