* Fairfield Police Arrest Andrew Bayardo for Allegedly Shooting a Gun in the Air

A 47-year-old Fairfield man was arrested Saturday afternoon for firing a gun in the air during an altercation, according to Fairfield police. Andrew Bayardo was arrested following the incident, which was reported shortly after 1:20 p.m. in the 1700 block of Gershwin Circle, police said. Arriving officers learned that there had been an altercation between Bayardo and a houseguest earlier that day. The houseguest left, but about two hours later, the guest’s family members arrived at the home and challenged Bayardo to a fight, according to police. At some point during the altercation, Bayardo retrieved a firearm and shot it once into the air, police said. No one was injured during the incident. Bayardo was identified by an eyewitness and was taken into custody for the negligent discharge of a firearm, according to police.
