A 19-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murdering another young woman who was found lying in the middle of an Alviso-area street Monday in San Jose, a police spokesman said tonight. Police pulled over Jennifer Bautista, 19, at about 10:40 a.m. today as she was driving near Tully Road and South Seventh Street, Officer Jermaine Thomas said. She was initially detained for questioning and was subsequently arrested. Thomas said she will be booked into the Santa Clara County jail tonight for the murder of 20-year-old Norma Leticia Martinez. Martinez was found injured in front of Our Lady Star of the Sea church at 1385 Michigan Ave. at about 6:45 a.m. Monday. She died later at a hospital. Police said it appears Martinez was pulled along the street by a vehicle for at least a block, but it is unclear whether she was dragged or was holding onto the car. Thomas did not disclose a motive in the alleged murder. Martinez’s older sister said Tuesday that the suspect and victim were involved in an on-again off-again romantic relationship and had recently broken up.
