* ARRESTED-Newark Police Trying to Identify Alleged Shell Gas Station Robbery Suspect

The Newark Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect in these photos.  Detective David Higbee reports that on Thursday December 17, 2009 at 10:44 AM, this suspect allegedly robbed the Shell gas station located at 5489 Thornton Avenue. The suspect is described as a light skinned black male. He is approximately 19-20 years old, about 5’10” tall and a thin build. The suspect may also have a thin mustache and was wearing a black beanie style cap with a black parka-style coat and denim jeans. Witnesses described the gun used by the suspect as a “machine gun”.  The suspect was last seen getting into an oxidized black or possibly gray in color, late model Honda or Toyota with a California License plate similar to 5LEL649. Detective Higbee believes  the suspect may also be responsible for at least four additional robberies in Union City, Fremont and  Sunnyvale.
