The Newark Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect in these photos. Detective David Higbee reports that on Thursday December 17, 2009 at 10:44 AM, this suspect allegedly robbed the Shell gas station located at 5489 Thornton Avenue. The suspect is described as a light skinned black male. He is approximately 19-20 years old, about 5’10″ tall and a thin build. The suspect may also have a thin mustache and was wearing a black beanie style cap with a black parka-style coat and denim jeans. Witnesses described the gun used by the suspect as a “machine gun”. The suspect was last seen getting into an oxidized black or possibly gray in color, late model Honda or Toyota with a California License plate similar to 5LEL649. Detective Higbee believes the suspect may also be responsible for at least four additional robberies in Union City, Fremont and Sunnyvale.
