* Santa Cruz Police Searching for Man Who Approched 8 Year Old Girl

ID #09-341

Santa Cruz police today released a sketch of a man suspected of approaching an 8-year-old girl in front of her home and asking her suspicious questions earlier this month. The sketch is of a man who on Dec. 14 drove his vehicle partially into the driveway of the victim’s home in the 900 block of Western Drive, according to police. The man then asked the girl her name, her parent’s name and last name, their e-mail address, phone number, and the combination to the garage door opener. The man did not attempt to grab the girl or lure her into the vehicle, police said. The girl ran away to get her mother, and the suspect eventually drove away, according to police. He is described as a white man between 50 and 70-years-old with a freckled complexion, blue eyes, white hair with black streaks in it, yellow teeth, and possibly a foreign accent. He was wearing headphones, a black jacket and a purple shirt, police said. He was driving an older red compact pickup truck with a white stripe on it, according to police.
