An 18-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint as he sat in his car in the parking lot of a Petaluma shopping center Wednesday night, police said.The robbery occurred at the Washington Square Shopping Center at 373 S. McDowell Blvd. at around 7:45 p.m.The victim was parked in front of a Safeway store when a man with a black semi automatic handgun opened the unlocked front passenger door and got in the car.He demanded the victim’s money from his wallet, which he was given. The suspect then ordered the victim to drive to his bank and make a withdrawal, threatening to shoot him if he didn’t comply, police said.The victim drove several hundred yards to a bank kiosk and made the withdrawal, and the suspect took the money and fled, running south through the parking lot toward Maria Drive.The suspect was described as a clean-shaven white man, around 30 years old, 6 feet tall and weighing 160 pounds. He was seen wearing a black hoodie, black pants and white shoes.Anyone with information on the kidnapping and robbery should contact Petaluma police at (707)778-4372.
