* Maurice Robertson Fatally Shot On 67th Street In Berkeley In May 2009 Is Still Unsolved

The Berkeley Police Department is seeking the public’s help in the city’s only unsolved murder case of 2009, the shooting of an 18-year-old man in May, a police spokesman said today.Maurice Robertson was found fatally shot in the backyard of a home in the 1300 block of 67th Street at about 11:30 p.m. on May 4, Berkeley police Officer Andrew Frankel said. The homicide was the city’s second of six homicides so far this year.Investigators are looking for a person of interest who was seen in the area around the time of the shooting.He is described as a black male between the ages of 16 and 19 years old, between 5 feet 8 and 5 feet 10 inches tall, and was wearing an orange hooded windbreaker, Frankel said. Frankel said police are hoping for any new leads.He said although the case is now months old, investigators are  still tracking down all possible leads.Along with making arrests in five of the six homicides of 2009, investigators this year also made arrests in two other homicide cases from 2006, Frankel said.”Until there’s closure we continue to work the cases,” he said.There is a $17,000 reward for information leading to an arrest for Robertson’s murder. The city is offering $15,000, while Bay Area Crime Stoppers is offering the additional $2,000.
