A woman driving while intoxicated rear-ended a patrol car Sunday night while a San Jose police officer was sitting inside, according to police.The officer was assisting a stranded motorist on Moorpark Avenue at Rebecca Way at about 11 p.m. when the incident occurred. He was sitting inside his marked patrol car when another car struck the back of his vehicle, according to police spokesman Officer Jermaine Thomas. The officer had a minor complaint of pain and was examined by a doctor. Police determined the driver, 32-year-old Marcella Buta of San Jose, was under the influence of alcohol. She faces charges for DUI, as well as causing a collision while intoxicated, Thomas said.
