Authorities in Mono County today located the vehicle of a missing Pleasanton man who didn’t return from a solo camping trip last week, Pleasanton police said. Jay Lafontaine was expected to return home Dec. 2 and last spoke to his family via his cell phone on Nov. 27, the day he left for the trip, according to police. His family reported him missing Friday. He was believed to have gone to Bodie State Park in Mono County, then south to Death Valley in Inyo County, police said. A California Highway Patrol helicopter found his black Jeep Wrangler in a remote area just northeast of Bodie at about 11:35 a.m. today. Lafontaine was not found in the immediate area, but some of his personal equipment was located in his Jeep.There were no signs of foul play and a Mono County Sheriff’s Department search and rescue team, with the assistance of other law enforcement agencies, is searching for Lafontaine. He is in good heath, 6 feet 1 inch tall, 190 pounds with gray hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a green parka and blue jeans.
