* Apryl Johnston Arrested For Hit-And-Run In Nov. 2009 On Market At Alviso Street

Police in Santa Clara have arrested a suspect in a November hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a young woman walking in a crosswalk on Market Street. San Jose resident Apryl Johnston, 34, Jose faces felony hit-and-run charges after striking a 21-year-old Santa Clara University student on Nov. 15 at about 3 p.m., according to Sgt. Ray Carreira. The victim was crossing Market at Alviso Street near the university when she was hit.Johnston was arrested Dec. 2, the result of what Carreira said was simple police work. A traffic investigator pieced together information from witness statements and pieces of evidence from the scene to identify Johnston, he said. She was booked into county jail and released on $10,000 bail, according to police. She will be arraigned in Santa Clara County Superior Court next week.
