Three Oakland police patrol cars were damaged this afternoon in a vehicle pursuit that ended in the arrest of two armed suspects, police said. At about 3:30 p.m., undercover officers spotted two male suspects believed to be armed in a vehicle in the 3200 block of Mandela Parkway. The undercover officers then asked for assistance from marked patrol vehicles, Officer J. Moore said. Arriving officers attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, which allegedly fled. Officers used “intervention techniques” and managed to stop the vehicle, which crashed in the 1400 block of Poplar Street, Moore said. He said the suspects threw two firearms out of the window during the pursuit and that they were both taken into custody. Investigators allegedly found narcotics in the suspects’ vehicle, Moore said. Three patrol vehicles sustained moderate damage in the chase and subsequent crashes, but no one was injured, Moore said.
