* Salinas Police Searching for Suspect That Allegedly Beat and Robbed Man on Dennis Avenue

Police are looking for a suspect who pistol-whipped a man in Salinas on Friday afternoon and then stole the victim’s gold chain. A 19-year-old man was walking in the 200 block of Dennis Avenue at about 1:10 p.m. when a black vehicle approached him. The passenger of the car got out and brandished a handgun at the victim and then demanded his wallet, according to police. When the victim refused, the suspect pistol-whipped him, stole his chain and then left in the car. The victim was taken to a local hospital to be treated for a cut to the back of his head, police said. The suspect is described as being in his 20s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 180 pounds. He was wearing black clothes.
