A bomb squad was called to a San Rafael office building Wednesday morning after a suspicious device was found in a bathroom. Police were notified at about 8 a.m. of a suspicious package at 3270 Kerner Road , an office building that houses several businesses, including the Marin County Mental Health Services Division headquarters, according to San Rafael police. Arriving officers found two pipes taped together with a piece of rope around them. They were unable to determine the nature of the device, and called in the University of California at Berkeley bomb squad. The building was evacuated while the device was examined and removed, police said. The bomb squad eventually determined the device was not an explosive and it was destroyed.
