Enoch Reed Of Oakland Was Shot And Killed Near 96th Avenue Oakland’s 100th Homicide Almost Two A Week For 2009

A 52-year-old Oakland man was fatally shot on Friday afternoon, police said, making him the city’s 100th homicide victim this year.Enoch Reed of Oakland was shot at 3:48 p.m. Friday in the 1800 block of 96th Avenue in East Oakland, Oakland police Officer Jeff Thomason said.Police received reports that a man had been shot in the area, and upon arrival they found Reed lying on the sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds.He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Thomason. Thomason said the case is under investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Oakland’s homicide division at (510) 238-3821. Reed is Oakland’s 100th homicide victim this year. The city’s 99th victim, 31-year-old Voltaire T. Philips, was shot and killed on Wednesday, according to police.
