South San Francisco police are reminding people to park in safe and populated areas after a 62-year-old man was robbed in an isolated parking lot Tuesday morning. Officers responded to the 300 block of El Camino Real to a report of a robbery at around 7 a.m., according to South San Francisco police. A man had parked in an isolated area of a parking lot and was approached by a suspect when he got out of his car. The suspect had or simulated that he had a handgun and demanded money. The victim complied and the suspect fled on foot, possibly south on El Camino Real. An independent witness had noticed a white man in his 30s loitering in a neighboring parking lot just prior to the robbery, police said. He was described as having a thin build and was seen wearing a beanie, a black shirt and black pants.
